CHEAT SHEET: The Top 10 Things Tenants Search For

Most of our landlords who come to us from other agents have the same common problem: VOID PERIODS. Even though we have a unique way of addressing that problem which we’ll get to in a second, there are certain things you as a landlord can do to minimise void periods.

Zoopla recently conducted new research looking at what exactly renters are looking for when searching for their next property to live in

1. Parking

You would think that the living space is more important, but apparently, so is a car’s living space! Across the board, parking was the most sought after feature. Second to that was ‘garage’.

As a landlord, you can make your property more attractive by re-landscaping a garden to include a driveway or apply to drop the kerb outside your property. These changes could mean big financial gains in terms of tenants.

2. Pets

So many tenants have pets and the demand for pet-friendly accommodation is on the rise. Research by Dogs Trust found that 78% of pet owners struggle to find properties to rent.

If you don’t allow pets in your property, here’s some reasons why you should consider it.

3. Three Bedroom Properties

The type of property most searched for is three bedroom dwellings. If you have a property with an extra living space or office that can be converted to an extra bedroom, you should consider doing just that.
